He was an icon and one of the most sporting figures for decades, guiding his team UCLA basketball team to success after success. His success is still to be emulated by any other coach in almost any field.
Ten times is a huge number. But he guided his team to ten national championships year after year during sixties and seventies. During his time UCLA were the most dreaded basketball teams in the field and no one was thought gusty enough to beat them.
John Robert Wooden was born on October 14, 1910 and would have completed 100 years later this year.
He witnessed a whole century and was awarded Hall of fame twice both as coach and player.
